How to play

  1. Pick a city and type any station.
  2. Read the clues: shared lines, direction, distance, letters, ridership. Green means an exact match.
  3. Follow the arrow until you land on the station of the day.
  4. Share your emoji grid. A new station hides at midnight, local time.

Why this exists

I made the first version in one day for my best friend, who can place every Paris station on a blank map from memory. I still trace real lines, check station data and keep the odd detail that only a regular passenger would notice. Then a tweet brought 10,000 people in one afternoon and the server gave up. The rest is on the blog.

Frequently asked questions

What is DailyMetro?
A free browser game about metro stations. One station hides on a real network each day, you guess stations, and each guess tells you how close you are. Find it and you get an emoji grid to share.
Is DailyMetro free?
Yes. No account, no download.
When does the station change?
At midnight, in each city's own time zone. Everyone in the same city gets the same station.
How many cities can I play?
9 today: Paris, New York, London, Berlin, Madrid, Lyon, Washington, Singapore and São Paulo. 13 more open by October 2026, for 22 in total. The next one to launch is playable now as a beta in Coming soon; for the others, write to us for early access.
How is it different from Wordle?
The daily rhythm is similar, but the answer is a station. Each guess returns clues from the real network: shared lines, direction, distance, letters and ridership.
